Monster Invitational Group Show @ FOE Gallery 7/8/11

Monster Invitational Group Show

July 8th - July 22nd, 2011

FOE has curated a group show paying homage to monsters. The idea of monsters is as old as civilization and what society defines as monstrous changes and morphs through time and culture. Depending on when and where you grew up, it’s likely some version of monster, urban myth or story shaped your fears and nightmares. No one escapes this rite of passage. Come out to see how 20 different artists from westernmass to Japan interpret their own unique fears, repulsions and pleasures. It may sound scary, but monsters are fun too, and fears confronted (or exercised) are fears conquered.

Artists Roster Includes : Stephen Blickenstaff, Michael Bracco/Spaghetti Kiss, Paddy Charles, Bob Conge/Plaseebo, Dream Rocket, Halfbad Toyz, Paul Kaiju, Jeff Lamm/Greasebat, Brian Mahony/Guumon, Ben Mininberg/Prometheus Rising Studio, Monster Worship, Mark Nagata/Max Toy Co, Michael Nordstrom, Osiris Orion, Ben Reigle, Todd Robertson, Splurrt, Eric Talbot, Velocitron, Dave Wach

Pieces from the show available for sale on FOE's website http://www.shopfoe.com

OsiRisORion custom Daigomi

Here's the second part of my collab with GUUMON creator Brian Mahony! Brian has asked me to custom paint his latest figure Daigomi! When i first received the Krunk figures, I immediately fell in love with the sculpt! It has amazing texture and can be left as is or has the possibility of being sculpted on. It's a pretty versatile figure.

Then I got my hands on the Daigomi figure, and let me tell you this sculpt has so much going on it's a virtual playground for a painter! The Daigomi is a huge pile of trash, seriously it is! Every inch of the figure is covered in garbage! There's pipes, barrels, oil drums, tires, and pumpkins! If that wasn't enough there are even people trapped in this heaping trash monster! It was a real pleasure to work on these figures as well as the Krunk figures Brian sent me too!

All 6 of my custom GUUMONS will be on display at Zakka on Oct 9,2010 for the Daigomi custom show! If you missed the custom Krunk figures I painted they were originally posted here! Big thanks to Brian Mahony of GUUMON for hitting me about the collab and for getting me on this awesome show!

Hey Everyone! I finished up the GUUMON collaboration last night and here are the pics! There are 4 one-off colorways ( Gelato GUU, Metallic Burst GUU, Molten Lava GUU and Oil Slick GUU ) I want to give a big thanks to Brian Mahony, creator of the GUUMON figures for giving me the opportunity to do this collab! Check out Brian's site at http://www.guumon.com

This was a private collaboration between Brian and myself, so unfortunately these pieces are not for sale! These custom painted GUU will be on display at ZAKKA in DUMBO on 10/9/10 for the Daigomi Custom Show (www.zakkacorp.com). I will also be painting up a few of Brian's new figure Diagomi for that show also!

OsirisOrion X GUUMON ....

Brian Mahony ( http://www.guumon.com) and myself are working on a private collab ( these pieces won't be for sale). Brian contacted me about a month ago and asked me if I would like to customize some of his GUU figures! How could I say no! GUU is such an awesome figure and I'm having a blast so far painting these guys up.

Right now I'm just in the beginning stages of  laying down the basecoat on the figures, as you can see in the pics! stayed tuned for more progress, in the meantime check out Brian's site http://www.guumon.com and see all the awesome customs Brian has done along with other artists!
